Best. Smart watch(/fitness tracker). Ever.
I’m amazed by how much I love this thing. I’ve been looking for a smart watch/fitness tracker I liked for more than a year. I’ve owned the Moto 360, Fitbit Charge HR, Fitbit Blaze, Jawbone UP3, and Xiaomi HR. None of them hold a candle to this thing.
RIP Pebble, you will be missed, this was the best smart watch
This was my BACKUP Pebble 2.
I waited a very very long time before purchasing a smart watch. I was waiting for the Pebble 2 to arrive, but was very disappointed when I heard that Pebble was going under. I WAS going to spend the retail $$ originally, but decided against it when I learned of Pebble folding. But then I saw a VERY VERY good deal online and for $80 I figured I couldn’t go wrong. Well the problem is that I am totally in love with this watch! And then I became terrified that my watch would die and I would not be able to replace it. So I decided to watch for a good sale and bingo. Amazon had it for $5 less than the first one I bought. I now have my “backup” stored away in a safe place until I need it. (PS I did pull it out and update the firmware when the “last” update of the firmware came out the other day)… then back into the safe 🙂
Truly a technological work of art for a smart watch
I have waited a while before submitting my review since i wanted to give a fair and hands on of the pebble 2. Yes as many other reviews have spoken that fitbit has bought out pebble and surely its because they wanted to lessen one competitor in their market and as can be seen for good reason. Pebble is overall simple design and concept however this is not a loss in any way in regards to its capabilities. I presently have mine synced to HTC 10 and our son who we bought a pebble 2 for as well uses the galaxy S6 and neither has demonstrated any lack in notofications or display. The vibrate feature of alert works seemlessly, as does the mic voice to text response and the battery life has ranged a consistant 5 to almost 7 days of battery life depending amount of use. As well the sleep and heart rate sensors are on point with readings for my use of a sleep apnea machine and reading at last rheumatologist appt. I still use older technology that not longer has capability of updating and i have found that as long you have the app and all features are working than you will not have a problem with continued use throghout the years the only long term mindful thought is that later down the life the battery wont hold the same amount of lifespan charge since the more charge cycles occur the less battery life you will end of having. In the photo i added for size comparisson against my DM09 from evershop which is a excellent clone verison of the apple watch has only few minor added features yet should not detor from your decession of getting the pebble 2 while supplies last for you would not be desappointed as long as you can look past the lack of color and talking on a phone using the watch you will be satisfied with purchasing pebble 2!
I’ve been using thiswatch for months with the GadgetBridge app on my phone
I’ve been using this watch for months with the GadgetBridge app on my phone. I’ve had no issues.
You might like this watch if…
I love this watch. So far, plenty of reviewers have already covered the strengths of this watch (waterproof, long battery life, value) and its weaknesses (heart rate sensor) so I’ll seek to avoid redundancy. Is the watch perfect? Absolutely not. But I still give the watch a 5 star review as it does everything I need a smartwatch for without costing several hundred dollars. I wanted to offer a few subjective thoughts for your consideration.
For the price and purpose, love it!
I picked the Pebble 2 initially because I mostly wanted a cheap sensor for pulse/movement for sleep tracking and maybe step counting during the day – having an always on watch display being a bonus for the latter. What I got was much better … long battery life, customizable notifications, being able to get a quick read on messages and phone calls without fishing out my phone.
SO glad I found this!
Had the device for 4 days now and I have only had to charge it once. I am very busy so I receive notifications on it at least 4 an hour. Keeps heart rate and steps fairly accurately. I have left it on while in the shower and in the pool and so far so good. I’m very happy. Also, as of 4/7/17 the last update on the watch should cause all functions to take place in the locally installed application so there are no worries about losing functionality with the fitbit transition. My fiancée has a Gear 2 and he paid nearly $100 more without the ability to see heart rate, step tracking and the battery only last 2 days haha!
Comparison of Ionic vs Pebble 2+
Hoping Fitbit reads the reviews! I have had the Pebble Steel original (very tough watch perfect for construction workers who still want to be able to see incoming notifications) . The Pebble Round which I bought to compete with my boyfriends Apple 1 watch. The size of a regular watch and beauty and function is amazing. Recently purchased the Pebble 2+ heartrate. The only thing I don’t like about the Pebble as a tracker is the feedback looks cartoonish. When I click on the sleep or heartrate tracking part of the app I want a more interactive scientific view. Pebble’s is not detailed enough and not able to actually view the hours of heartrate or sleep tracking. That is the only downside.
So smart! Love this watch for fitness and general every day use.
I love this product, can’t believe Apple didn’t produce something similar.
